Best 3 Brekkies in Gold Coast

The people in Gold Coast don’t slow down just because it’s the morning and they had to get up. The act of waking up here is a delight for a few reasons: (1) The mornings are gorgeous, not a cloud in the sky, and the sun is already shining. (2) There is tea involved. (3) The BEACH. Or any outdoors place, really. (4) You get to chose one of literally hundreds of brekkie places to go to. My favorite brekkie places usually feature outdoor seating, a beachy view, and a mean avocado toast.

The back of its head, WHAT THE FUCK.

The back of its head, WHAT THE FUCK.

Whether you’re a local hunting for the perfect coffee or a visitor wanting to get the full experience, don’t waste your time bouncing from cafe to cafe, building up an intense caffeine buzz and a hatred for those disgusting trash vultures (aka the white ibis). I’ll let you in on the perfect little cafes of the GC area.

Elk Espresso
, Broadbeach

Set back a few blocks from the shore, Elk opens up onto a quiet street, its’ occupants spilling out onto the sidewalk to sip their coffees and read their papers. The atmosphere is laid back, with eclectic artwork and poppin’ music, but the food tries really hard. In the best way possible. Bright neon smoothies, lovely edible flowers, and tropical fruits make their classic breakfast dishes memorable. And don’t worry, the avvo toast is bomb. For some shots of their mouthwatering meals, follow Elk Espresso on Instagram.

Piccolo Espresso, Miami Beach

Piccolo is a charming little cafe just a street off the beach. An open verandah let’s its occupants fully embrace the warm breeze and, of course, the lovely view of the ocean. After you enjoy your flat white or juice, take a stroll up to Miami Hill, only a few meters away, to burn off your brekkie and drink in the panoramic views of the coast.

Borough Barista, Burleigh Heads

Borough is always poppin’, and for good reason. They crank out mean coffees, brekkies, and lunch and you can have either all day (in case you’re over brekkie by now). The avvo toast is amazing, but if that’s not your bag, go for the brekkie wrap or the chicken sandwich. You can even get your food to go and walk across the street to watch the surfers while you enjoy! Stalk their Instagram here.
